Lack of safe water for household use remains a challenge for almost a billion people worldwide. Diarrhoeal diseases account for one in nine child deaths worldwide, making diarrhoea the second leading cause of death among children under five. SFH responds at the household and community level: clean drinking water at home, safe storage, and household hygiene practices that keep families healthy.

SWS
Safe Water System
A water-quality intervention combining simple, inexpensive technology with behaviour-change communication to make stored water safe through disinfection at the point of use. Launched in Nigeria in 2004 and scaled through community partners ever since.
WaterGuard Plus
Household water disinfectant
A water disinfectant that makes water safe for drinking by destroying harmful bacteria, protozoa, and other germs that cause water-borne illness. Distributed through SFH Access to households across Nigeria.
