SFH fights to reduce malaria through nationwide prevention and treatment efforts. As one of Nigeria’s leading social-impact health organisations, SFH is dedicated to improving the health of mothers, pregnant women, and children under the age of five. Prevention is key: it is estimated that prevention alone can save billions in treatment expenses, as well as illness-related loss of productivity.

Prevention and treatment, at national scale.
SFH’s malaria response combines long-lasting prevention with rapid, correct treatment, anchored in pre-packaged regimens designed for families to use safely.
Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs)
Some LLINs are effective for up to four years and last a minimum of twenty washes without re-treatment, making them five to ten times more effective than conventional re-treatable mosquito nets.
Pre-packaged ACT (Coartem)
SFH developed an innovative approach to pre-package malaria treatment for easy use among mothers and families, facilitating rapid, correct treatment with Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy for children and families at risk.

Multi-country market research and surveillance on antimalarials
A multi-country research and surveillance programme tracking the availability, price, and quality of antimalarials in Nigeria, used to shape national policy and market interventions for ACT.
Global Fund Round 4
Malaria prevention and treatment grant
A Principal Recipient grant supporting nationwide malaria prevention and treatment work, including distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets and ACT to communities most at risk.
Global Fund Round 8
Malaria scale-up grant
A second Principal Recipient grant scaling LLIN distribution, behaviour-change communication, and case management to additional states and the federal level in partnership with FMoH.
