Nigeria TB-HIV Reach Impact Project (N-THRIP) – Global Fund GC7 Grant

Ongoing
The Nigeria TB-HIV Reach Impact Project (N-THRIP) under the Global Fund GC7 grant is a strategic intervention aimed at accelerating efforts to end the TB epidemic by 2026 and achieve HIV epidemic control by 2030 in Nigeria. The project targets the general population as well as key and vulnerable populations, including female sex workers (FSW), men who have sex with men (MSM), people who inject drugs (PWID), transgender persons (TG), adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), and persons in custodial centres.
  • Implemented from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026, Society for Family Health (SFH) serves as a sub-recipient to the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) and leads project implementation in Kwara and Gombe States. SFH’s work builds on previous PEPFAR efforts and focuses on people-centred services delivered through One-Stop-Shops (OSS) that provide integrated HIV prevention, care, and treatment.
Implementation Locations: Kwara and Gombe States
     Key Objectives:
  1. Accelerate identification and treatment of PLHIV and TB cases, especially in underserved communities
  2. Deliver people-centred HIV and TB services through integrated facility and community-based models
  3. Strengthen capacity of healthcare workers and community systems
  4. Improve data reporting, supply chain, and programme quality
  5. Address local service delivery challenges, particularly in areas with low uptake and awareness
  •  Notable Achievements / Success Metrics (So Far):
    • In Kwara, 10,740 clients are currently on ART, out of a PLHIV burden of 16,923
    • In Gombe, over 33,000 PLHIV are on ART, reflecting significant treatment saturation
    • Transitioned implementation from CCCRN and CIHP to SFH with continuity in service delivery
    • Active support for OSS, index testing, recency testing, and TB case identification
    • Ongoing engagement of key populations and provision of tailored health services
