Promoting Accreditation for Community Health Services (PACS) Project
Ongoing
The Promoting Accreditation for Community Health Services (PACS) Project is a collaborative initiative led by Society for Family Health (SFH) and Solina Center for International Development and Research (SCIDaR) with funding from MSD for Mothers, an initiative of Merck & Co., Inc. It seeks to improve adherence to the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN)’s accreditation framework by implementing three prioritised incentive options. The project supports Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) to meet and sustain regulatory standards, thereby enhancing the delivery of quality family planning and primary health care (PHC) services.
Implementation Locations: Lagos and Kaduna States
The project leverages three incentive models to influence compliance:
- Access to Finance
- Access to Quality Commodity
- Brand Visibility
These models are intended to drive voluntary accreditation renewal, improve service quality, and ultimately increase the availability and quality of health services in the community.
Objectives:
- Improve PPMVs’ compliance with PCN accreditation
- Implement and assess the effectiveness of three incentive strategies
- Strengthen private sector contribution to accessible and quality PHC services
Notable Achievements / Success Metrics:
