The Society for Family Health (SFH) says it will partner with Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Foundation to improve health policies and its implementation in Nigeria. Mr Bright Ekweremadu, the Managing Director of SFH, made the pledge on Wednesday in Abuja at the inauguration of PSN Foundation.
Ekweremadu, who identified the foundation as crucial and remarkable milestone by the society, described it as a means to drive change and address Nigeria’s health needs and challenges. He said the initiative was paramount to achieving National Development Strategies and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He also noted that the foundation and PSN as sharing a common goal, saying that partnering with the organisation will impact positively in actualising its set goals.
Ekweremadu described SFH one of the foremost distributors of health products in Nigeria. He urged the foundation to play a strong role in ensuring mutual support between the private and public sector that would reduce rivalry. “It is common for us to naturally pursue goals on the strength of our resources, skills and enterprise. But we know that we will be more successful when we seek for partnership with others. “This has been true with SFH, which is why we enter into all forms of partnership with donors and implementing partners. “Successes reach are made possible through strategic partnership and alliances with network of stakeholders in the health sector. “I therefore reiterate our commitment to the foundation, to partner on aligned goals toward the improvement of health outcomes in Nigeria now and in the future. “I express my gratitude to PSN for its efforts in contributing to tackling the numerous health challenges of Nigerians. “We also pledge to provide technical support to the foundation,” Ekweremadu said.

Dr Sani Aliyu, the Director-General, National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), urged the PSN to utilise the foundation in ensuring the availability and access to anti-retroviral drugs. Aliyu, who decried the plight of patients without regard to choices of accessing care, said people were now at liberty to make their choices. Newsmen report that the foundation was set up by PSN to provide relief materials to alleviate the sufferings of victims of natural disasters or emergencies.
