SFH SET TO DISTRIBUTE OVER 3.7 MILLION INSECTICIDAL TREATED NETS IN NIGER STATE

Society for Family Health (SFH) in collaboration with Niger State Ministry of Health and Roll Back Malaria Partners is implementing the 2022 Insecticidal Treated Net (ITN) mass distribution campaign in Niger State.
About 3.7 million ITNs are available for distribution to residents of the State. The flag-off ceremony to mark the commencement of net distribution was successfully conducted today, Thur. 1st September, 2022. The Executive Governor of Niger State, His Excellency Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello, was present at the event with his Deputy and cabinet members.
During the event, Gov. Abubakar Sani Bello symbolically received the nets from the Managing Director, Society for Family Health, represented by the Deputy Managing Director Programmes and Strategy, Dr. Jennifer Anyanti. The Governor, after symbolically distributing some ITNs at the venue to some households, slept in a net to demonstrate the safety of the nets for prevention of mosquitoes that spread malaria.

Partners such as the World Health Organization and the Catholic Relief Services gave goodwill messages, encouraging residents to not only collect the nets but to properly use the nets. The free distribution of ITNs using a door-to-door distribution strategy is scheduled to begin today, 1st September and end on Monday, 12th September, 2022.
